Cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, along with her co-stars David Chang and Joel Kim Booster from “Chrissy and Dave Dine Out,” sat down with The Hollywood Reporter at the Sundance Film Festival to discuss their new food series.
Despite Teigen and Chang’s culinary expertise, Booster admitted he didn’t share the same passion for food before the series, becoming the audience surrogate. Growing up with humble meals, he learned about food through the show.
Booster’s first fancy meal was at Michelin-star restaurant Providence during the filming of the series, and Teigen and Chang shared their joy in witnessing his palate evolve.
Teigen recalled her own early experiences with fine dining, mentioning a nerve-wracking moment when she took John Legend to Jean-Georges at the age of 20. Concerned about her card declining, she withdrew cash beforehand, and the experience left a lasting impression.
With “Chrissy and Dave Dine Out” premiering on Jan. 24, the cast discussed their goals for the year. Teigen emphasized balancing self-care while raising four children, and Chang aimed to spend more time at home with his two boys. As for Booster, he humorously revealed his specific goal: to be engaged to boyfriend John-Michael Sudsina by the end of the year, adding that he felt safe saying it since Sudsina doesn’t go online.
