The actress, who has been open about navigating the red carpet with her MS diagnosis, wore a red velvet dress by Christian Siriano
Christina Applegate made a triumphant return to the 2023 Emmy Awards. The acclaimed actress, nominated for lead actress in a comedy series for her role in “Dead to Me,” graced the ceremony in a stunning cranberry velvet gown designed by Christian Siriano.
Notably, she carried a cane due to her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, a condition affecting balance. Complementing her attire were Dr. Martens Jadon II Boot Hardware Buttero Platforms.
Expressing gratitude on stage, Applegate, accompanied by host Anthony Anderson, became emotional as the audience warmly welcomed her. “Thank you so much,” she said, downplaying the applause and humorously remarking, “Oh my God, you’re totally shaming me with disability by standing up. It’s fine… Body not by Ozempic! We don’t have to applaud every time I do something.”
Designer Christian Siriano took to Instagram to praise Applegate, emphasizing her strength and inspiration in battling the challenges of multiple sclerosis.
Applegate, 52, disclosed her MS diagnosis in August 2021 during the filming of the third and final season of “Dead to Me.”
Her previous red carpet appearance was at the 2023 SAG Awards in February. At the Emmys, she was accompanied by her teen daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble.
The mother-daughter duo showcased coordinated ensembles, with Applegate donning a floor-length velvet tuxedo dress and LeNoble in a classic black double-breasted suit. Both wore matching Dr. Martens shoes.
Applegate personalized her elegant look with a cane adorned with stickers, including the defiant letters “F U MS.” LeNoble, once again in a chic black suit, echoed her mom’s style with her own pair of Dr. Martens at the Emmys, reaffirming their fashionable and supportive bond.
