Jackson Mahomes, the sibling of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was previously confronted with felony charges stemming from accusations that he forcibly kissed a woman against her will by grabbing her neck in February 2023. These felony charges have been dropped.
According to the Associated Press, Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens submitted a motion on Tuesday to drop three counts of aggravated sexual battery. Jackson Mahomes appeared in court on Wednesday, and at that juncture, the felony charges were officially dismissed.
He is still confronting a misdemeanor battery charge and has entered a plea of not guilty.
The court justified the dismissal of the felony charges by citing a lack of cooperation from the alleged victim. Prosecutors’ documents state that the alleged victim declined to testify.
The outstanding charges stem from accusations that Jackson Mahomes reportedly pushed a waiter at the restaurant where the incident is said to have taken place. His attorney released a statement asserting that Jackson Mahomes “has done nothing wrong” and expressed confidence that the truth of the matter would be revealed in due course.
