Fortnite has raised $36 million for Ukraine

Epic Games released a new season of Fortnite and along with it, an announcement that for the next 2 weeks the entire earnings from the game will be donated to humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The next day, the developer revealed that it had raised $36 million in the initiative. The money will be donated to a variety of aid organizations, including Direct Relief, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the World Food Programme. Epic states that Xbox will also donate its net profits from the game over the same time frame.

Remember that, Fortnite is a survival game in which 100 players compete against one another in a game of player versus player battle to be the last left standing. There are estimated to be 140 million gamers on Fortnite

Others gaming businesses have been raising money to support humanitarian causes in Ukraine. A huge collection of more than 1,000 games that were sold on Itch.io raised more than $6 million. Humble Bundle has been fundraising through a bundle that has raised over 12 million dollars. Epic’s Fortnite fundraisers will be running through the 3rd of April.
