After 23 years of marriage, the former “General Hospital” star, Steve Burton, and his estranged wife, Sheree Burton, have reached a resolution in their divorce proceedings. According to court records obtained by Us Weekly, the couple finalized their divorce this month.
Steve, 53, and Sheree, 45, have agreed to share legal and physical custody of their three children: Makena, 19, Jack, 17, and Brooklyn, 9, as outlined in previous court filings. The divorce is uncontested, and Sheree reportedly sought to permanently terminate spousal support for both parties.
The Post has reached out to a representative for Steve for comment on the matter.
Steve had publicly disclosed the separation in May 2022, asserting that Sheree was expecting a child with another man. In an Instagram Story, he clarified, “I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve.”
He initiated the formal divorce process in July 2022, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Sheree welcomed her daughter, Izabella, in February, and in October, she revealed that she is anticipating another child, the father of whom has not been publicly disclosed.
In an Instagram post, she shared her current situation, stating, “Unexpectedly expecting my 5th baby, making that 4 girls and 1 boy. If you would have told me I was going to have 5 kids with 2 of them being born in my 40s, I would have laughed and said you were crazy. But God has a plan, and here I am, and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful for my life and the people in it.”
Steve Burton, known for portraying Jason Morgan on “General Hospital” from 1991 until his character’s demise in 2012 and subsequently returning in 2017, officially parted ways with the ABC soap opera in November 2021. His departure was a result of his refusal to comply with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
Addressing the situation in a video statement, Burton shared, “I know there’s been a lot of rumors and speculations about me and ‘General Hospital,’ and I wanted you to hear it from me personally. Unfortunately, ‘General Hospital’ has let me go because of the vaccine mandate.”
