Good news for “Wizards of Waverly Place” enthusiasts: the enchanting sibling duo Alex and Justin Russo are set to return to the small screen in the pilot of the show’s new sequel, “Wizards.”
Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who portrayed Alex and Justin in the original series that premiered in 2007, are taking on executive producer roles for the pilot, as confirmed by Disney Branded Television to CBS News.
In this sequel, Gomez will make a guest appearance, while Henrie will reprise his role as Justin regularly. Joining the cast are newcomers to Waverly Place, including Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos.
The magical sequel delves into Justin’s story as he departs from his position at WizTech and leaves his magical abilities behind to lead a normal life with his family. However, his routine takes a turn when a potent young wizard arrives at his doorstep seeking training. As per the press release, “Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.”
